Frequently Asked Questions

  • Question: What is the guest evaluation period?
    Answer:
A guest can visit a chapter up to 2 times before deciding whether or not to join the group. Applications and payment can be submitted for acceptance anytime during or after the Guest Evaluation Period.
  • Question: How do I get a free meal?
    Answer:
The meal on a guest’s first visit is paid by ReferralWeb (up to $6 plus applicable tip for breakfast; lunches and dinners may be higher).
  • Question: What is the application process?
Answer: Payment must be included with application in order to be considered for acceptance. Applications are generally accepted on a first come, first served basis and may be subject to a 1-week waiting period for a membership review.
  • Question: What measures are in place to ensure the quality of service that members provide?
Answer: New members will be required to provide three business references. The Chapter Leader should be made aware of any team members’ services and/or actions that may be considered of poor quality or unprofessional.
  • Question: If there is bad weather, how do I know if there will be a meeting or not?
Answer: Contact your Chapter Leader for details but generally speaking if the local school district is closed or on delayed opening, there will NOT be a meeting that day.
  • Question: What happens if I am late to a meeting?
  • Answer: A Team Member that arrives after the 1-minute introductions have started may forfeit his/her opportunity to provide a 1-minute introduction. This is in place so the flow of the introductions is not disrupted.
  • Question: Do I have to purchase a meal?Answer: No, but it is highly recommended as a sign of appreciation to the restaurant hosting the meeting.
  • Question: What types of business can join ReferralWeb?
Answer: ReferralWeb membership is open to many types of businesses and professions. Typically, if a business can be listed in the phone book, it can most likely be a ReferralWeb member.
  • Question: I am an independent sales consultant for a direct-selling company.  Can I join ReferralWeb to recruit ReferralWeb members to become consultants for my company?
Answer: Independent sales consultants are welcome to join ReferralWeb, but should focus on marketing their company’s products/services rather than on the business opportunity. Actively recruiting other ReferralWeb members is highly discouraged.
  • Question: What is the meeting agenda?
    Answer:
The flow of a typical meeting is as follows: networking time, short introductions, business presentation, education/marketing, referral exchange.
  • Question: What is considered a close-contact networking group?
    Answer:
The ReferralWeb definition of a close-contact networking group is one that meets these 3 criteria:
    1. Meets Regularly (More than once a month)
    2. Meets for the purpose of passing referrals
    3. Allows only one person per business classification (or profession) to join.
  • Question: Why can’t I be member of another close-contact networking group?
    Answer:
Membership in another close-contact network is considered to be classification conflict. Choosing between the members of two different groups when you have a referral is not loyal to the members of either group. Passing the same lead to two different people is not a qualified lead.
  • Question: Why are ReferralWeb chapters limited to one Team Member per business classification?
    Answer:
This ensures that there is no competition within the chapter for referrals.
